Reverend Al Sharpton is campaigning with NAACP board member Willis Edwards for a commemorative Michael Jackson U.S. Postal Service Stamp. The USPS traditionally waits 5 years before issuing a commemorative stamp but Sharpton and Edwards are working hard to get the stamp committee to make an exception. The 1993 Elvis Presley commemorative stamp is the best selling U.S. stamp with 124.1 million sold. Jackson's stamp could very well beat this record. In a news conference outside of the First AME Church Edwards stated, "It's going to work out with the reverend in a meeting soon. It's going to start soon, I think we have to find out all of the procedures" in regards to the commemorative stamp campaign. Rev Sharpton said he befriended MJ over the years as Jackson would visit his mentor the late James Brown.
